As a Vernon Photographer, nothing is more exciting than heading to an Engagement Session, knowing that I am about to be a part of the proposal too!
Planning for a few months, Jacob and I had been in contact for the proposal he was secretly planning for his girlfriend. From Edmonton, they were coming to Silver Star Ski resort in my hometown of Vernon for a weekend getaway.
Flying here, renting a car, making dinner reservations were the least of his concerns. He wondered how we were going to secretly get Hannah to Brewer’s Pond without her suspecting he was about to pull a ring out of his pocket.
With some acting skills not particularly worthy of an Oscar, we passed each other on a hiking trail around Brewer’s Pond when he stopped to ask me if I could take a photo of them with his phone.
After doing that, I told him I actually was a professional photographer who had been up there photographing my kids and that I could take a nice portrait of them with my camera and then send it to them.
What unfolded, was a sweet, tender moment that will forever remain with me. To be a part of such a special moment is a huge honour. Her tears were still present on her cheek, frames later and I loved how effortlessly they fit in each others’ arms.
